$20 for 2 people for a double room (online it is $30)

We found this hostel online at booking.com, as the cheapest option for 2 to stay in a private room. The price was only $2 more than choosing a dorm of 8 or more people in other hostels.

The location is perfect with only a 10 minute walk from Mockba supermarket, or a 15 minute walk from Keruen (KEPYEH) shopping mall, food court and supermarket. You can also walk to the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, Khazret Sultan Mosque and National Museum in around 40 minutes. Alternatively, there are bus options close by too.

The hostel itself is a family-run business. It is clean and quiet and we had no problems here. There are 2 bathrooms, a kitchen area with all the kitchen-ware you could need (fridge, cooker, kettle, plates, cutlery etc), and clothes washing facilities. The clothes washing will cost you an extra 300Tinge.

The lady we dealt with most of the time didn’t speak English, only Russian and Kazakh, but her son spoke very good English so there was never a misunderstanding. We planned to stay here only 2 nights and ended up staying an extra 2 nights!

If you’re after some kind of party hostel, this is not the one for you… but for travel, culture and a comfortable place to sleep at night, this hostel is perfect.
